What We Believe

We are Broken men.

We are Bulletproof Strong.

What We Believe

We are a group of passionate and devoted Christ followers. Why do we follow Jesus?  Because each of us have experienced that relationship with him has been the single, defining thing that has given us freedom from our addictions, negative patterns and bad habits.  Even more so, making our relationship with Jesus the most important relationship in our lives has miraculously and mysteriously become the very source and purpose of our lives. Jesus IS our purpose.

We believe that when God created each of us, he had a very specific, important and valuable purpose in mind for each of us to fulfill.  Not so much in the sense of the things we would DO while here on earth, but more so the man we would BECOME while here on earth.  If I become the man God wants me to BE, I’ll naturally DO the things that God wan’ts me to do (and NOT do the things he DOESN’T want!).  Because THAT man would join God in working to fulfill the purposes of HIS kingdom here on earth.  THAT man would live on in eternity with God.  And God is excited and pleased when that happens.

But each of us has the FREEDOM to choose if we are going to join God in the work of his kingdom or not.  He also grants us FREE WILL when we are created.  And with that free will and because of the sinful nature into which we were born, each of us has gone our own way, followed our own path, worshiped the things of this world rather than our Creator…thus MAKING OURSELVES GOD in the process (Romans 1:21-23).  We have made a “dark exchange,” exchanging God for his created gifts, turning them and ourselves into idols…”little gods” in our lives.  The result?  We have NOT become the men that God had intended for us to be.  This exchange must be REVERSED for us to be set free from sin (and addiction).  This exchange must be REVERSED in order for us to become the men that God originally had in mind when he created us.  If you hang around with us for very long, you’ll hear us talk a lot about making this “EXCHANGE”…  learning to exchange a lesser physical pleasure for a greater spiritual experience with Jesus.

This is the goal we work to attain: constantly aligning our wills and purposes with God’s.  Because that’s how we’ve found our VERY BEST LIVES.  It’s how we have found purpose, fulfillment and joy.  Helping other men do the same is our mission.  We help other men become the man that God originally designed them to be.

Theologically speaking, we believe in the triune God – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We are non-denominational – our members attend many different denominations of church.  We never recommend one denomination over another.  We believe God places each of us in the local body of believers in which he wants to use us most effectively to further His kingdom.

We believe selfishness and self-centeredness is at the root of all sin and addiction.  We believe we each have a significant spiritual problem that can only be remedied by God and not by the physical solutions we had been pursuing. Again, people struggling with addiction have exchanged their reliance on God for reliance on physical substances and/or behaviors to meet their spiritual needs.  This exchange must be reversed to find freedom and healing.

We believe there are three critical things a man needs to recover from addiction:

  1. Enough Misery
  2. Enough Willingness
  3. Enough Humility

We believe our best life will be attained when we fully allow God to make us into the man he designed us to be from the beginning.

We believe Jesus is the highest authority on earth and in heaven.  He is the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” (Rev 19:16) and thus his word is trustworthy and good.

We hold some spiritual tenants lightly, as in an open palm, and have no corporate stance on them as a group: i.e., things like speaking in tongues, baby baptism, pre- or post-tribulation, etc.

We hold other spiritual tenants in a closed fist and will not deviate from them: God is three-in-one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Jesus is God’s son, he was born of a virgin, he died, was buried and resurrected, he is the only source of eternal salvation.

The Nicene Creed is a good, general summation of our core doctrinal beliefs:

We believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
God from God,
Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
His kingdom will never end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come.

Amen.
